The long-running five-seater competes in a seriously crowded segment that includes the Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue, Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage and many more. Pricing for the SE starts at $43,675, including a $1,335 destination fee, and the top XSE starts at $47,545. The RAV4 Prime otherwise continues as it was last year with two trim offerings, SE and XSE. The new interface is less distracting to use and far easier on the eyes. There’s only one significant change, and it will greatly improve the ownership and driving experience: a new infotainment system. While the regular RAV4s gets some new equipment and a new Woodland trim for 2023, Toyota has mostly left the RAV4 Prime alone. Standard all-wheel drive with the Prime makes it an all-weather contender and a surprisingly competent dirt trail companion, and Toyota includes a load of great safety tech, making it a top family car for weekend adventures.
It augments the already expansive RAV4 lineup, which also includes gas and (non-plug-in) hybrid variants, along with several trims. The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime is a compact crossover with a fuel-sipping plug-in hybrid powertrain and great standard features.
